“The object of Agriculture is to feed and clothe people. Two things will guarantee this happens with maximum efficiency. Firstly, farming must be prosperous and secondly, soil fertility must constantly improve”
– P.A.Yeomans : Originator of Keyline

Join Darren Doherty, the world’s
most respected keyline practitioner where he’ll stage his hugely popular three day Keyline & Carbon Farming workshop.

The workshop is an intensive blend of technical & practical sessions targeted at farmers, professional land managers, consultants, permaculture designers, earthmovers and anyone with a strong interest in sustainable land management and soil creation. This 3-day on-site workshop will fully outline all of the principles and techniques involved with the modern application of Keyline Design. We will also have Keyline’s central tool; the fully optioned, Yeomans’ Keyline Plow for demonstration as part of this course, complete with custom compost tea injection rig.

The workshop will be conducted on Taranaki Farm; a developing demonstration property of keyline design principles, designed by Darren. Don’t miss this special chance to learn this material inside a fully featured keyline system.

What is Keyline & Carbon Farming

In today’s changing climate and landscape, we need real solutions for land and water management. Solutions that benefit both the landholder and the environment, and result in both profit and improved soil fertility. Keyline concepts were conceived and founded in the Australian landscape to build soil, hold water and improve the fertility and durability of the land.’

Keyline is a comprehensive system of land design and management with a special emphasis on water and its collection and use in dams and soil; the outcome of which builds fertility by design – year after year. Carbon farming represents a host of additional, complimentary methodologies that work in with Keyline to enhance that system of farm management.

Integrated keyline planning ensures balanced fertility growth year after year. Comprehensive Whole Farm Design
Keyline is a holistic design system, considering climate and land shape through to roads, buildings, fencing and soil.
Amplified contour cultivation begins with keyline ploughing and extends to other activities including hay making. Amplified Contour Cultivation
Understand how subsoiling on contour can increase soil moisture and how ‘amplified contour cultivation’ further enhances this effect.
Careful dam positioning maximizes water harvesting yield which in turn maximises profit yield. Water Storage in Farm Dams
Discover optimal dam locations for water harvesting including interlinking dams through clever road / drain positioning.
Roads properly situated provide multiple functions. Farm Road Layout
Learn how farm access roads can multi-function through providing vehicle and stock access and harvest water simultaneously.
Fossil fuel-free gravity powered passive flood irrigation and stock watering via internal dam wall lockpipes. Gravity Irrigation & Stock Watering
Save energy by employing the power of gravity. In dam ‘lockpipe’ design and installation for passive irrigation and power-free convenient stock watering.
Contour strip forestry enhances fertility, shelter, feed and land value while providing additional diversified income. Contour Strip Forests
A farm without tress is an unhealthy farm. Learn how to position trees for shelter, fertility, timber profits and backup stock feed.
Erosion is a constant threat to our remaining topsoil. Keyline provides fool proof methods of eliminating erosion Healing Erosion
Beyond slowing erosion, keyline reverses soil loss. Understand how to move water by design and to your benefit.
Soil devoid of carbon is lifeless and unproductive. Keyline converts carbon in the air into healthy topsoil. Carbon Sequestration
With all the flack agriculture receives on emissions, the time is now to reverse this notion by putting carbon dioxide back into the soils.
Two oat crops side by side. The left sample 'built' by keyline. The right sample a consequence of degenerative methods. Rapid Topsoil Building
Keyline explodes the myth that it takes 1000 years to build topsoil. Understand how you can build INCHES of topsoil in only a few short years.
