Keyline Farming Workshop : October 2010
“The object of Agriculture is to feed and clothe people. Two things will guarantee this happens with maximum efficiency. Firstly, farming must be prosperous and secondly, soil fertility must constantly improve” Join Darren Doherty, the world’s The workshop will be conducted on Taranaki Farm; home of the famous Keyline Super Plow prototype and a leading demonstration farm of keyline design principles. Don’t miss this special chance to learn this material inside a fully featured keyline system. The workshop is an intensive blend of technical & practical sessions targeted at farmers, professional land managers, consultants, permaculture designers, earthmovers and anyone with a strong interest in sustainable / regenerative land management and soil creation. This 3-day on-site workshop will fully outline all of the principles and techniques involved with the modern application of Keyline Design. Beyond this, a host of complimentary farm techniques are presented during the workshop. PLUS we’ll be demonstrating the heavily modified version the Yeomans’ Keyline Plow; dubbed the ‘Keyline Super Plow‘. It’s a one-of-a-kind. A unique modified variation on the original created on Taranaki Farm by Darren Doherty and Ben Falloon. The current prototype performs “non-inversion deep cultivation / areation on the keyline system of amplified contour patterning (for enhanced rainfall absorption and even moisture distribution), while injecting & spraying actively aerated compost teas and biofertilisers. Additionally, it sows pasture crops (biological subsoilers like oats etc) and both annual and perennial pasture species all while maintaining 100% ground-cover, all in a single pass.“ |

What is Keyline Farming
In today’s changing climate and landscape, we need real solutions for land and water management. Solutions that benefit both the landholder and the environment, and result in both profit and improved soil fertility. Keyline concepts were conceived and founded in the Australian landscape to build soil, hold water and improve the fertility and durability of the land.’
Keyline is a comprehensive system of land design and management with a special emphasis on water harvesting with dams and catchment systems. Keyline design also offers rapid topsoil building techniques. P.A. Yeoman’s (keyline originator) “exploded the myth that it takes a 1000 years to develop an inch of topsoil”. With keyline, inches of new topsoil can be created in only a few years.
